Sad, sad news this morning that B.B. King has passed away aged 89 the last of the three Kings of the Blues.
It shouldn’t have come as such a great surprise after his recent health troubles, this last turn had an air of finality about it, and with his age and his work schedule – remember Tweeting ages ago about some modern “pop star” who was tired that B.B. King was in his 80s and performing a couple of hundred times that year.
Posted before how digging into the heroes of my guitar heroes brought me to the three kings – B.B., Albert and Freddie, all now sadly gone – one song in particular and “The Thrill Is Gone” is a song I can listen to over and over again.
Today classics like “Sweet Little Angel”, “Three O’Clock Blues”, “Everyday I Have The Blues” and “How Blue Can You Get?” will get a good blasting, along with other classics from classic albums like “Live at the Regal” and “Live in Cook County Jail”.
That’s when I’m not looking up old performances that are thankfully up on YouTube. Don’t know if I’ve got a VHS that’ll work to play my recording of the ’92 Sevilla Expo Guitar Legends Blues & Soul concert.
…and not forgetting one of the greatest songs ever written…
